The thrilling first episode of The Ones Who Live hinted that the series will conclude with a retelling of a story that the franchise has done six times before.

Over the course of its twelve-year run and eleven seasons, The Walking Dead featured a wide variety of plots and character arcs. Although the show succeeded in introducing dramatic walker fights and new villains on a regular basis, it also ended up recycling a number of clichés.

The first episode of the spinoff, The Ones Who Live, teased the possible conclusion to one of the most frequently recurring narratives in the franchise.

The Walking Dead’s recurrent theme is Rick Grimes’ struggle for stability.

Rick Grimes tells the same story throughout his Walking Dead tenure, despite being the most developed character in the entire franchise, and this could have an effect on the conclusion of his new show.

In spite of his desire to leave the Civic Republic, Rick is involved with the CRM, according to The Ones Who Live. Rick’s desperate attempt to leave was shown in Episode 1, but by the end of the show, it appeared that he was fully committed to helping Okafor alter the CRM.

Although there will be many surprises and unknowns surrounding his reunion with Michonne, Rick’s past with The Walking Dead suggests that the show may conclude without him going home.

During his time on The Walking Dead, Rick Grimes discovered a lot of new communities, but they all came to an end in the same manner. Rick is The Walking Dead’s best leader, as the series has repeatedly shown, and his takeover of several new communities emphasizes this.

Rick rejoined his family in the first season and assumed leadership of Shane’s small group of survivors. Rick and his group led Hershel’s farm, the prison, Alexandria, Hilltop, and even the Saviors, and this continued season after season. His ability to lead was essential to gaining control over these groups.

He even maintained ties to Oceanside and the Kingdom, demonstrating the series’ protagonist’s power. Rick has a history of taking over almost every community he comes across.

Rick’s ability to lead his former enemies is demonstrated by his victory over and welcome of the Saviors, even though it is not surprising that he would end up leading the settlements he is staying in.

Even though The Ones Who Live pitted Rick Grimes against his most nuanced foe to date, Okafor’s covert effort to alter the CRM from the inside suggests that Rick will likely revisit this tale in his spinoff.

While Rick’s attempt to flee the CRM was the main focus of Episode 1, Okafor’s storyline hinted that Rick will eventually seize control of the Civic Republic in The Ones Who Live.

Even though Rick and Okafor had a falling out throughout the premiere, there appeared to be a quiet respect between them as Okafor was quietly setting Rick up to take the lead in the CR.

Rick is the ideal person to bring about this change because of his background in the CRM, which enables him to understand why it is necessary. He is unlikely to just abandon the CRM as it is, even if fleeing is his top priority.
