Coaches Chance the Rapper, Dan + Shay, John Legend, and Reba McEntire compete to find and develop the next singing sensation on this episode of “The Voice.” Watch our live blog below for updates on the second night of the blind auditions.
The best voices in the nation are invited to compete in the latest season of the four-time Emmy Award-winning musical competition series “The Voice,” which debuted on NBC on February 26 at 8 p.m. PT/ET. Five stages of competition comprise the show’s unique format: Blind Auditions, Battle Rounds, Knockouts, Playoffs, and Live Performance Shows.
“I was on ‘The Voice’ previously!” Blind auditions started for the launch of Season 25. Josh Sanders and Tae Lewis joined Team Reba. Dani Stacy and Nadège joined Team Chance. Ryan Argast, Justin Garcia, and Jeremy Garcia joined Team Dan + Shay. As of now, Team Legend has not hired anyone.

Let’s keep the blinds going! We were glued to our seats, waiting to see which coach OK3 would choose for their team, since they had all of the coaches available. They were the first artist(s) to join Team Legend tonight, thanks to the assistance of their vocal coach live on stage!
Nathan Chester was the next performer to go on stage for their blind audition, and he performed a catchy rendition of “Take Me to the River.” John was the first to offer Nathan a chair turn, and Dan and Shay followed suit not too long after.
Chance claimed that he “had a vision” of himself playing for John and collaborating with him on his tenor range, which is why he didn’t turn. Reba acknowledged that John is most likely the greatest option for him, but she also said she regretted not making a different decision.
John expressed that Nathan “inspires and excites” him before telling Nathan that he wanted to use music from Nathan’s record to “bring back James Brown style Motown.” Maddi Jane claimed that “working with a coach would be life changing” before to her performance of “Escapism,” but she also provided the coaches with an unusual blind audition to take into consideration.
All four chairs turned to bring her to their team once the coaches got comfortable with her primarily rap performance. After he turned, John remarked that it was “so fun” to watch her perform and listen to her. Her stage presence is appealing to him, and he clarifies that the rap-singing she performed was “not easy.”
Dan found it amusing that Shay was trying to convince her that he was also a rapper. Devon Sutterfield, a family man from Missouri, was the next to go up for the opportunity to at last follow his musical love. He was hoping to impress Dan + Shay in particular with his performance of “Cry to Me” at his audition.
Reba informed him that she was hoping for “a little more emotion” at the end, Dan mentioned that it was hard for him to “gain momentum” in a challenging song, and Shay mentioned that it was challenging to hear his point of view in the song. At that time, none of the coaches turned their chairs. If John were to reapply in the future, he believed he ought to do something “more mellow.”
