Jordan Poyer, the former All-Pro safety of the Buffalo Bills, is set to remain within the AFC East as he has reached an agreement with the Miami Dolphins, according to his agents (via NFL Media). The contract is a one-year deal valued at $2 million.
Poyer recently became one of the players released by the Buffalo Bills. Despite being on the verge of turning 33, the seasoned veteran will now be part of a Dolphins secondary that features Pro Bowl cornerback Jalen Ramsey and starting safety Jevon Holland.
Over his 11-year career, Poyer established himself as one of the NFL’s top safeties after transitioning from Cleveland to Buffalo before the 2017 season. He made an immediate impact with five interceptions in his first season with the Bills and accumulated a total of 22 interceptions over his first six seasons with the team.
Poyer earned his first All-Pro recognition in 2021, contributing significantly with 93 tackles, three sacks, five interceptions, and nine pass breakups.
In 2022, Poyer’s standout performance continued, earning him a Pro Bowl selection after securing four interceptions and playing a key role in Buffalo’s third consecutive AFC East title.
Following Poyer’s departure, the Bills have secured a replacement from within their roster by re-signing Taylor Rapp to a three-year deal. Rapp, who joined the Bills in 2023, had previously won a Super Bowl during his four seasons with the Los Angeles Rams.
