Sony Pictures Classics is bringing back the thrilling movie Run Lola Run to celebrate its 25th anniversary. This summer, fans in the U.S. can watch a restored 4K version in cinemas. Starring Franka Potente as Lola and directed by Tom Tykwer, the film quickly became a cult favorite due to its unique style and memorable soundtrack.

In this German thriller, Lola must find 100,000 Deutschmarks in just twenty minutes to save her boyfriend Manni from local gangsters. The story unfolds in a video game-like format with three alternate universes.

 

Lola has three chances to succeed, and her decisions shape the outcomes. While the first two attempts end tragically, Lola strives for success in the third. Sony Pictures Classics praised the film’s lasting impact, stating, “Run Lola Run remains one of our most enduring titles.

The Movie Was A Huge Success

Its re-release is a tribute to this groundbreaking thriller, inviting new generations to experience it on the big screen.” Upon its original release, Run Lola Run received acclaim for its storytelling, direction, and performances.

Although it wasn’t nominated for an Oscar, the film was Germany’s entry for Best Foreign Language Film. It grossed over $22 million worldwide, setting records for non-English-language films in the U.S. and Canada. The film holds an impressive 93% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

The cast includes Moritz Bleibtreu as Manni, Herbert Knaup as Lola’s dad, and Nina Petri, among others. This summer, moviegoers can relive the excitement of “Run Lola Run” in theaters once again.
