WWE fans were surprised and disappointed by the company’s recent decision to release several prominent stars, a trend that continued with another wave of departures this week. Last month, WWE made headlines by parting ways with stars like Xyon Quinn, Xia Li, Jinder Mahal, Von Wagner, and Cameron Grimes.

This week’s releases focused largely on NXT talent, with recognizable names such as Ezekiel Balogun, Julian Baldi, Trey Bearhill, Emms Diaz (known for the WWE Roku Channel series “WWE: Next Gen”), Valentina Feroz, Drew Gulak, Keyshawn Leflore, Darrell Mason, Vlad Pavlenko, and Kiyah Saint among those let go.

Reason Behind Releases

Even Boa and Gable Steveson, a surprising release, were not spared.

According to Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio, the recent talent cuts were primarily due to WWE’s assessment of performers’ potential.

Meltzer explained that WWE tends to release talents who aren’t progressing as expected, and most of those released were deemed to be lacking in progress. He also noted that industry insiders didn’t view any of the cuts as significant mistakes.

The news of these talent releases has sparked discussions about the future of WWE’s NXT brand and how the departures might influence upcoming shows and storylines. While the release of wrestlers is a challenging aspect of the industry, it’s hoped that each released talent will find new opportunities elsewhere.
