Mel Gibson attended the premiere of his latest film, Monster Summer, on September 24 at the Directors Guild of America in Los Angeles, accompanied by his two youngest children, Lucia and Lars.

This marked a rare public appearance for the actor, who walked the red carpet with his 14-year-old daughter Lucia, who wore a striking red strapless dress, and his 7-year-old son Lars, who looked stylish in a white shirt and black slacks, sporting long blond hair.

Lucia is Gibson’s daughter with his ex, Oksana Grigorieva, while Lars is the child he shares with his current partner, Rosalind Ross. Gibson has a total of nine children, with seven from his previous marriage to Robyn Moore.

His older children range in age from 25 to 43, and while many of them remain out of the public eye, Lucia and Lars made a rare appearance to support their father at the event.

At the premiere, Gibson posed for pictures with his castmates, including David Henrie—who also directed the film—along with actors Noah Cottrell, Abby James Witherspoon, Lilah Pate, Julian Lerner, and Mason Thames.

Monster Summer features Gibson in the role of a sheriff who teams up with a group of friends to investigate a terror that disrupts their summer plans. The film also stars Kevin James and Lorraine Bracco.

This event marked Gibson’s second public appearance in recent months, following his attendance in August at Vince Vaughn’s Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony. Gibson has largely stepped out of the spotlight over the years, amidst several controversies.

His public image has been clouded by a series of scandals, including accusations of making homophobic and antisemitic comments in the 1990s, which resurfaced in 2020 when Winona Ryder reiterated the claims.

Gibson’s representative strongly denied the accusations made by Ryder, stating that her account was “100 percent untrue.” The actor has faced numerous controversies over the decades, but despite his reduced public presence, he continues to appear in films like Monster Summer, where he remains an active participant in Hollywood.
