The anime, based on Megumi Morino’s manga, will be on Crunchyroll and Netflix worldwide with English subtitles.
Produced by East Fish Studio, it highlights the chemistry between Hotaru and Saki, thrilling fans awaiting its debut.
The manga series was nominated for the 64th Shogakukan Manga Awards in the shōjo category and was the runner-up for the ninth An An manga award.
In 2018, it was ranked as the tenth best manga of the year by employees of one of Japan’s largest bookstores.
In the 2020 Kono Manga ga Sugoi! guidebook, the series ranked fifteenth among the top manga for female readers.
It was also nominated for the Kodansha Manga Award in the shojo category that year. Then, in 2021, it won the Kodansha Manga Award in the shojo category.
About A Condition Called Love
The anime’s story centers on Hotaru, a 16-year-old high school first-year who isn’t too keen on love. She prefers enjoying life with her family and friends.
However, when she sees her schoolmate Hananoi-kun sitting alone in the snow after a messy breakup, she offers to share her umbrella without much thought.
But when he unexpectedly asks her out the next day in front of her classmates, she can’t shake the feeling that her life is about to take a major turn.
In episode 1 of A Condition Called Love, viewers will meet the main cast, including Saki Hananoi and Hotaru Hinase, and get a sense of the series’ atmosphere.
The episode will reveal Hotaru’s condition, which makes it hard for her to grasp complex feelings of love. But after meeting Saki, she starts to see things differently.
Alongside, other supporting characters will also be introduced, playing crucial roles in shaping the main storyline and laying the groundwork for the series ahead.
Tomoe Makino is directing the anime at East Fish Studio, with Hitomi Amamiya supervising and writing the series scripts, and Akiko Sato designing the characters.
yamazo is composing the music for the series. The opening theme song, Kimi no Sei, will be performed by Sexy Zone, while the ending theme song, Every Second, will be by Danish-Japanese artist Mina Okabe.
