The anime, based on a light novel series by Yomi Hirasaka and illustrated by Kantoku, flips the isekai genre by bringing characters from a magical world into the real world.
Sosuke Kaburaya, a struggling detective, crosses paths with Sara Da Odin, a princess from a magical realm, while tailing someone. They begin living together, and Sara quickly adapts to modern-day Japan.
A female knight from Sara’s world, Livia Do Udis, also arrives in this world and lives as a homeless person, surprisingly finding joy in her new life.
The story revolves around Sōsuke, Sara, and Livia as they navigate their new surroundings alongside other quirky characters like a tough lawyer, a religious leader, and a divorce agent.
Recap
In Episode 1, the story starts in the Ofim Empire Territory, where Princess Sara da Odin and Livia confront rebels. While Livia holds off the rebels, Sara escapes through a portal to another world.
The episode then shifts to Gifu City, Japan, where detective Sosuke Kaburaya meets Sara. Sara uses magic to heal Sosuke’s wound and inadvertently causes an explosion in a park.
Sosuke pulls Sara away from the scene of the explosion. Meanwhile, Livia successfully defeats the rebels and follows Sara through the portal to Gifu City.
However, she struggles to find information and faces fear from the locals. After taking a bath, fishing, and enjoying a meal, Livia seeks refuge in a makeshift shelter belonging to a homeless man named Suzuki.
During their pursuit of Koni Takemoto, Sosuke discovers a blackmailer being extorted by a group of four. They team up to defeat the blackmailers and then celebrate with a meal of Hida-gyu.
Despite Sosuke’s request for Sara not to help with future cases, she insists, believing it could boost their income and lead to better meals.
In the preview of A Salad Bowl of Eccentrics episode 2, viewers can expect to see Livia working odd jobs with Suzuki, collecting cans, and doing other tasks.
Eventually, she will meet Sara and apologize. Meanwhile, it will be revealed that Sara believed Livia had died, leading her to make no inquiries about her.
