The Star Wars universe spans a vast timeline, with stories unfolding across different eras. The upcoming Ahsoka Disney+ series originates from Ahsoka Tano’s live-action debut in The Mandalorian season 2. The Mandalorian season 1 took place in the year 9 ABY (After the Battle of Yavin), five years after the events of Return of the Jedi.

There is some uncertainty regarding the exact time frame of the subsequent seasons. However, Lucasfilm has confirmed that Ahsoka runs concurrently with The Mandalorian season 3 at some point. This explains why Ahsoka Tano and Sabine Wren did not appear in that season.

Ahsoka Is Set Around 9-12 ABY In Star Wars Timeline

The events of Ahsoka eventually progress beyond The Mandalorian season 3, pushing the New Republic Era further into the Star Wars timeline. The show is set after the Battle of Endor in 4 ABY, when the Empire was in disarray, and the New Republic was formed.

Although the Empire was supposedly defeated at the Battle of Jakku in 5 ABY, remnants of the Imperial forces regrouped in the Unknown Regions, plotting their resurgence.

Ahsoka Tano, a former Jedi apprentice, took Sabine Wren as her Padawan learner. However, they eventually parted ways. Ahsoka continued her journey across the galaxy, helping others while searching for Ezra Bridger, who went missing along with Grand Admiral Thrawn.

Her encounter with Din Djarin and Grogu in The Mandalorian season 2 led her to team up with the bounty hunter to defeat Morgan Elsbeth, an old servant of Thrawn.

Ahsoka’s quest to find Thrawn and Ezra Bridger serves as a continuation of the Star Wars Rebels storyline, which ended shortly before the Battle of Yavin. The Ahsoka series bridges the gap between the events of Rebels and the original trilogy, exploring the aftermath of the Empire’s fall and the formation of the New Republic.

With Ahsoka episode 7 confirming that the series has moved beyond The Mandalorian season 3, fans eagerly await to discover the specific timeline placement and the character developments that have taken place since the events of Star Wars Rebels.
