After 13 years of marriage, Alicia Keys and Swizz Beatz remain in perfect harmony. In a latest digital cover, the “Girl on Fire” singer shares insights into how she and her producer husband have established a rhythm that allows them to flourish, emphasizing the importance of effective communication.

“I spent a lot of relationships not really saying how I actually felt, and they fell apart,” says Keys. “If you can’t speak your truth, then you can’t be yourself. That’s a key! I don’t worry about speaking to him, even about the hard things, and I think he feels the same. I know that I can tell him what I really feel.”

Keys — who also emphasizes self-care through Keys Soulcare, a beauty brand co-founded with dermatologist Dr. Renée Snyder in 2020 — and Beatz exchanged vows in 2010. Together, they parent sons Egypt, 13, and Genesis, 9. Additionally, Beatz is a father to children Kasseem Jr., Prince Nasir, and Nicole from prior relationships.

Beatz, 45, has consistently been a steadfast source of support for Keys, 43, throughout their journey together. Recently, he demonstrated his unwavering loyalty by defending her performance during Usher’s Super Bowl LVIII halftime show as “amazing.”

“My husband — every second, it’s noise. But that’s him, and I love it,” says Keys. “He is the best DJ in the universe, and we walk down the street, and it’s a party. It’s amazing.”

Despite their strong bond and emphasis on communication in parenting their sons, Alicia Keys highlights the fun side of her relationship with Swizz Beatz.

“We have a lot of fun. We laugh a lot,” she says. “He’s really silly, I’m really silly.”

Together, Alicia Keys and Swizz Beatz have ventured into the realm of art, showcasing their exhibition “Giants” at the Brooklyn Museum since Feb. 10, with plans to run it until July 7. Their impressive collection features renowned artists such as Jean-Michel Basquiat, Gordon Parks, Kehinde Wiley, and others.

This collection has been something that’s been so personal and such a long time of really loving and creating deep relationships with the artists in our collection,” she says. “To be able to show it in one place at the Brooklyn Museum in the Great Hall, I can’t even tell you… We are going to be bawling, I can’t even believe it.”

Keys’ recent performance at Usher’s halftime show adds to her string of successes. Alongside celebrating Keys Soulcare’s partnership with Amazon, she anticipates the Broadway premiere of her musical “Hell’s Kitchen” in April.

“It’s something I’ve been working on for the past 13 years, so to see it come to fruition… It’s incredible,” she says. “It’s amazing.”
