Joey Graziadei’s decision to speak out about his medical history, prompted by comments about the yellowish tinge in his eyes, is an important step in raising awareness and promoting understanding about his condition.

Joey Graziadei’s recent Instagram video revealed that he was diagnosed with Gilbert syndrome during high school. This common and benign liver condition impacts the body’s bilirubin processing, resulting in the yellowish tinge observed in his eyes.

It’s commendable that he’s raising awareness about this condition and promoting understanding.

Indeed, Gilbert syndrome typically doesn’t necessitate treatment and may manifest as a slight yellowish tinge, known as jaundice, in the skin and the whites of the eyes. It’s helpful to highlight these details to provide clarity and understanding about the condition.

“Hi everyone, I hope you are having a beautiful day,” said Graziadei at the start of his video. “I wanted to jump on here really quick and talk about something that I’m seeing a lot of comments about, which is Joey’s yellow eyes.”

“So to give some context on that.” he continued, “I have to go all the way back to when I was in high school. I was sick for about a week and a half, and my mom thought it would be a good idea to go to the doctor.”

Joey Graziadei shared that during a medical visit, his elevated bilirubin count raised concerns about his liver health.

However, after undergoing ultrasound examinations and consulting with medical professionals, it was determined that there were no serious issues like hepatitis. Instead, he was diagnosed with Gilbert syndrome, shedding light on his condition and journey to understanding his health.

“At the end of the day, I am told that I am healthy,” he added. “It’s something that does affect the whites of my eyes, giving them that jaundiced appearance.

It’s something I want to pay more attention to going into this year. I want to ensure my health is optimal. But I wanted to provide some background and reassure you that to my knowledge, I am healthy.”

It’s wise for Joey Graziadei to prioritize hydration, sleep, and stress management for his overall well-being, especially given his diagnosis. These lifestyle factors can positively impact his health and help him manage Gilbert syndrome effectively.

“I do appreciate everyone looking out for me and wondering if I’m OK, but to my knowledge, I’m as OK as can be, and I will continue to monitor it. So thank you very much,” he concluded.

The Bachelor airs Mondays at 8 p.m. ET on ABC.
