Berserk Fans Have Decided To Take The Anime Forward Themselves

Berserk fans have long awaited news of an official anime adaptation, but with none on the horizon, fan animators have stepped up to fill the void. Studio ARCHE has taken the initiative to continue Guts’ journey from where the 1997 anime series left off, envisioning what a second season might have looked like.

The original Berserk anime ended on a somber note, leaving Guts and Casca shattered after the harrowing events of the Eclipse. While fans eagerly anticipated a follow-up, it would be decades before Berserk returned to television screens.

Tragically, creator Kentaro Miura’s passing left the future of the manga uncertain, but his friends have since carried on his legacy by completing the series in his honor.

In a recent “Question and Answer” session on YouTube, Studio ARCHE revealed plans for new episodes of their unofficial second season of Berserk. They aim to release episodes every three to four months, mirroring the time it took to create the pilot episode.

This fan-made series promises to cover events from the original manga, including those depicted in the 2016 anime adaptation. While the CG-animated series received two seasons, many fans felt it fell short of capturing the essence of Kentaro Miura’s artistry.

Most recently, Berserk returned through the Berserk Memorial Edition series, which utilized footage from the Golden Age Arc films.

As fans eagerly anticipate each new episode, Studio ARCHE’s project offers a peak into what could have been and keeps the spirit of Berserk alive in the absence of official adaptations.
