Billy Ray Cyrus and Firerose, born Johanna Rose Hodges, have finalized their divorce, with Firerose walking away with no financial settlement. The couple, who married in October 2023, were officially declared divorced as of Monday morning. The divorce documents were finalized in Tennessee, and while Firerose will receive no monetary compensation, Cyrus has agreed to relinquish his claims to credits and royalties for the songs they co-wrote and published.
The divorce has been contentious, with Cyrus alleging that Firerose’s motives for marriage were deceptive. He described the situation as an “insane scam” and expressed feelings of betrayal and danger in a statement. Cyrus suggested that Firerose’s interest in marriage was primarily for financial and reputational gain, a sentiment that contributed to the acrimonious nature of their separation.
Cyrus initially filed for divorce in May, citing irreconcilable differences and inappropriate marital conduct. He also sought an annulment on the grounds of fraud. In his filings, he accused Firerose of misusing his credit card for $96,000 and sought a restraining order to prevent further misuse. Firerose contested these claims, arguing that she had access to his credit cards and that she was entitled to use their marital funds.
In response, Firerose accused Cyrus of unpredictable and volatile behavior, which she attributed to his drug use and marijuana consumption. She also claimed that his behavior was abusive, both emotionally and psychologically. Cyrus denied these allegations, countering that Firerose was the one exhibiting abusive behavior and threatening to damage his career if their marriage ended.
This divorce follows Cyrus’ previous marriages, including his union with Cindy Smith from 1986 to 1991 and his marriage to Tish Cyrus from 1993 to 2022. Cyrus and Tish share three biological children: Miley, Braison, and Noah, and he also adopted Tish’s two children from her previous marriage, Brandi and Trace.
