Brittany Cartwright is seeking to establish her own parenting rules following her separation from Jax Taylor. The former *Vanderpump Rules* star filed for divorce on August 27, requesting primary legal and physical custody of their 3-year-old son, Cruz. Despite the separation, Brittany is open to allowing Jax visitation rights with their child.
In her divorce filing, Brittany also requested that both she and Jax be denied spousal support and that each party should cover their own legal fees. Additionally, she asked the court to recognize all gifts received during the marriage as her separate property and any assets acquired after their separation date, listed as January 24, to be hers alone.
The couple, who married in 2019 after five years of dating, had publicly announced their breakup earlier in the year. Brittany shared that she had moved into a separate home to focus on her mental health, emphasizing the challenges they faced in their marriage. She expressed that her primary focus now is on being the best mother to Cruz.
Jax Taylor also agreed with the decision to separate, acknowledging that he needed to work on himself before he could be a good partner. His mental health struggles were highlighted when he entered treatment in July, as he shared his commitment to improving himself for the sake of his son.
