Kim Taehyung, also known as V from BTS, clinched three awards at the 31st Hanteo Music Awards in 2023!

On February 18, the 31st Hanteo Music Awards convened its second night at Dongdaemun Design Plaza in Seoul. The event celebrated outstanding artists and music releases from January to December 2023, with a focus on the Hanteo Chart records.

Taehyung was honored with the ‘Main Prize (Bonsang)’ as the ‘Artist of the Year’ at the Hanteo Music Awards. In their announcement, the Hanteo Music Awards underscored Taehyung’s remarkable album sales record, stating:

“The first K-pop solo artist (V) to surpass 2 million first-time sales, an artist who captivated listeners around the world with his differentiated sensibility and fascinating vocals.”

This signifies Taehyung’s second ‘Main Prize (Bonsang)’ award this year, succeeding his win at the 33rd Seoul Music Awards last month.

Taehyung also secured victories in two out of the six continents for the ‘Global Artist’ awards, specifically for Europe and Africa.

When Taehyung debuted in September 2023, he made history with his debut EP ‘Layover,’ becoming the first album by a solo artist to surpass 2 million copies on both the Hanteo and Circle (Gaon) charts.

He also became the first K-pop soloist in 23 years, since 2000, to sell over 2 million copies.
