The Buffalo Bills made another addition to their wide receiver corps post-draft, securing Chase Claypool on a one-year contract, as announced by the team on Friday morning.

Standing at an imposing 6-foot-4 and weighing 238 pounds, Claypool injects seasoned experience into a receiver group undergoing reconstruction following the departure of Stefon Diggs, Gabe Davis’s exit in free agency, and the drafting of Keon Coleman at 33rd overall.

Notably, Claypool showcased his speed with a 4.42-second 40-yard dash at the NFL combine in 2020.

Aged 25, Claypool has navigated through stints with three different teams over the past two years, culminating in his most recent tenure with the Miami Dolphins subsequent to a trade from the Chicago Bears in October.

During the early stages of the 2023 season, Claypool voiced dissatisfaction with his utilization in the Bears’ offensive scheme, leading to his inactive status for multiple games before his move to Miami, where he tallied four receptions across nine games.

Previously, Claypool was acquired by the Bears in a trade from the Pittsburgh Steelers the preceding year. He commenced his professional journey with the Steelers after being selected in the second round of the 2020 NFL draft out of Notre Dame.

During his rookie campaign, Claypool amassed a career-best 11 touchdowns alongside 62 receptions for 873 yards.

Additionally, the Bills bolstered their defense by securing linebacker Deion Jones and defensive end Dawuane Smoot on one-year contracts.
