As fans get closer to the end of the first season, they were really hoping for some big surprises in the ninth episode. It shows Yuuki Wakura being taken by surprise by his sister Aoba and her Humanoid Shuuki friends, but we’re not sure why yet.
This episode also promises to give fans more background on Mato, Mato Peaches, and the origins of the Humanoid Shuuki.
We’ll see Kyouka Uzen and her team rush to rescue Yuuki, revealing some interesting lore along the way. Yuuki Wakura gets kidnapped by his sister Aoba and her Humanoid Shuuki friends, but we’re not sure why yet.
Fans will learn a lot about Mato, Mato Peaches, and how the Humanoid Shuuki were made as Kyouka Uzen and her team go to save Yuuki.
Recap
In Episode 9 of Chained Soldier, we see Yuuki Wakura and Kyouka Uzen fighting off a bunch of Shuuki soldiers at the start. When they return to the 7th Squad dormitory, they are surprised to find Tenka Izumo waiting for them.
There are other members of the 7th Squad: Nei Ookawamaura, Himari Azuma, and Shushu Suruga. The group then talks about Yuuki’s sister, Aoba Wakura, who he lost years ago in a Mato Mishap.
This leads to a flashback where we see Aoba protecting Yuuki from a bully when they were kids, showing how strong and caring she is for her brother.
We also find out that Yuuki learned some self-defense moves from playing with Aoba and learning different holds and throws.
They go back to the present where the others talk about what a great sister Aoba was. Kyouka then tells Yuuki he can have the rest of the day off and asks Izumo to return to the 6th Squad’s dorm.
Nei Ookawamura then senses someone in trouble four kilometers south of the base, so Kyouka sends Himari and Shushu to help with the rescue.
Himari and Shushu manage to take out a small group of Shuuki who were chasing a human girl. But when Himari goes near the girl to help, she attacks and shows that she’s actually one of the Humanoid Shuuki.
Then, the Humanoid Shuuki summons even more regular Shuuki. The girl reveals her name as Coco during this encounter.
Himari tries to talk to Coco about the Supreme Commander wanting to negotiate with the Humanoid Shuuki, but Coco doesn’t agree.
At the same time, Kyouka grabs Yuuki and tells him to transform right away. Meanwhile, Coco has brought in a really tough Shuuki named Kuma, so Himari gets out a rocket-launcher-like weapon to fight back.
Coco manages to dodge the rocket blast and tries to strike Himari, but Himari dodges just in time. Meanwhile, Shushu takes care of all the regular Shuuki.
Then, a different kind of Shuuki shows up with a weapon and rushes at Shushu. Suddenly, another Humanoid Shuuki comes out of this new Shuuki, grabs its weapon, and attacks Shushu with it.
Aoba Wakura suddenly shows up in front of Kyouka and Yuuki, casually eating a Mato Peach. When Kyouka and Yuuki try to dodge, Aoba tells Yuuki to stop, and he obeys her without hesitation.
Aoba then uses her hair to capture Yuuki, saying her mission is done. At the same time, several regular Shuuki attack Kyouka, keeping her busy.
As Kyouka deals with these Shuuki, Aoba and Yuuki disappear without a trace. Coco and the other Humanoid Shuuki fighting Shushu also vanish.
Expectations
As Kyouka and the team head to the hidden village, Episode 10 of “Chained Soldier” is expected to continue the conversation between Yuuki and Aoba.
This conversation will likely reveal a lot of important information about Mato in general and the origins of the Humanoid Shuuki, especially their connection to the Mato Peaches.
In the upcoming Episode 10 of Chained Soldier, the focus is likely to shift between Aoba and Yuuki’s conversation and Kyouka’s group journeying to the Hidden Village.
Kyouka and her team will probably discuss whether to disobey the Supreme Commander’s orders in their rescue mission. They may eventually decide that rescuing one of their own, Yuuki, justifies going against orders directly.
