Denji’s life is anything but ordinary. He carries the heavy weight of his father’s debts, and his only companion is Pochita, the chainsaw devil.

Together, they hunt devils to make money, but all their earnings end up in the yakuza’s pockets. Denji’s biggest dream is a simple life filled with good food and a wonderful girlfriend.

Sadly, the yakuza’s betrayal ends in Denji’s tragic death, crushing his hopes of a brighter future.

In a twist of fate, Pochita merges with Denji after his death, granting him devil powers to transform into a chainsaw hybrid.

These newfound abilities catch the attention of Makima, an elite devil hunter from the Public Safety Bureau. She offers Denji a chance to live, as long as he obeys her every command.

Driven by the desire for a happy life with a beautiful girl, Denji throws himself into battles, hoping to turn his innocent dreams into reality.

As Denji faces a scary destiny, fans really want to know who the mysterious savior hinted at in the last issue might be. They are also eager to see Denji saved from the grip of Public Safety.

Fans can’t be sure about what will happen next in Chainsaw Man chapter 157 and later, as there are no spoilers available. However, they do know that the new chapter will be released in just a few days, not weeks.

Recap

In Chainsaw Man chapter 156, Denji wakes up in his hospital room and sees a helicopter and smoke outside. He asks for Nayuta, and finds out Hirofumi Yoshida is there.

Denji asks where Nayuta is, and Yoshida says he doesn’t know, mentioning Denji has been asleep for a week.  Yoshida gently pats Denji’s head and then stands up, reminding Denji about their agreement not to transform.

He tells Denji that since he broke the rules, he can’t help him or Nayuta anymore, and then leaves the room.

Denji falls asleep soon after, and Yoshida tells Fumiko Mifune and others outside that he gave Denji a sleeping injection.

Fumiko Mifune says Public Safety plans to cut Denji apart. Meanwhile, Denji dreams that he tells Pochita he needs to wake up and rescue Nayuta.

Pochita wonders how Denji can rescue Nayuta without his legs. We find out Denji is asleep in an operating room, with his right leg already amputated.

Then, doctors amputate his left leg. A Special Division agent says he was ordered to kill Denji if he manages to escape.

He says they are at the Tokyo Devil Detention Center, explaining that it would take a “war” to free someone from there. The chapter finishes with an unidentified, possibly female character showing up outside the building.

Expectation

The next chapter of Chainsaw Man, chapter 157, is expected to start with the reveal of whether Asa and Yoru or Reze have come to rescue Denji.

It’s very likely that the character who appears at the end of the previous issue is Reze, so she might be the one coming to rescue Denji.

In Chapter 157, we can expect a flashback to show how Denji’s savior found his location and what their plan is to break him out.

The chapter will probably finish with the Special Division agent getting an intruder alert as he gets ready to confront whoever is trying to save Denji.
