The Los Angeles Chargers have added another weapon to their offense with the signing of veteran running back JK Dobbins to a one-year contract, as reported by NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero.

Dobbins, who spent his first four years with the Baltimore Ravens, now joins the Chargers in a move that is expected to benefit quarterback Justin Herbert.

Having played under John Harbaugh in Baltimore, Dobbins now reunites with Jim Harbaugh, who is the head coach of the Los Angeles Chargers. This signing comes after the Chargers previously secured Gus Edwards from the Ravens earlier in the offseason.

Dobbins, drafted in the second round by the Ravens in 2020, brings talent and experience to the Chargers’ backfield.

Despite facing injuries that limited his playing time to 24 games over four years, Dobbins showcased his potential in his rookie season, rushing for 805 yards and nine touchdowns in 15 games.

The Los Angeles Chargers Offense Will Look A Lot Different In 2024

The addition of Dobbins and Edwards marks a significant change in the Chargers’ offense for the upcoming season.

Alongside the departure of Austin Ekeler, the pass-catching unit has also seen alterations with the trade of Keenan Allen to the Chicago Bears and the release of Mike Williams for cap-saving reasons.

With the fifth pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, the Chargers have an opportunity to further enhance their offensive arsenal.

Under the leadership of new Chargers GM Joe Hortiz and head coach Jim Harbaugh, the team is undergoing a rebuilding phase that includes bringing in former players from John Harbaugh’s tenure in Baltimore.

As Dobbins and Edwards adjust to their new team, the Chargers’ offense is poised for an intriguing transformation in the 2024 season.
