Andy Reid, the head coach of the Kansas City Chiefs, continues to solidify his coaching staff by extending the contract of special teams coordinator Dave Toub. Toub, 61, has been with Reid for the entirety of his tenure with the Chiefs and was part of Reid’s initial coaching staff in Kansas City. In 2018, Toub’s title expanded to include assistant head coach.

Under Toub’s guidance, Tyreek Hill had a standout rookie season as a returner, earning All-Pro honors by leading the NFL in punt return yardage, average yards per return, punt returns, and kickoff returns for scores.

Additionally, kicker Harrison Butker has excelled, making 44 of 46 field goal attempts and all 46 point-after attempts during the recent season, including the postseason.

Toub’s coaching career in the NFL began in 2001 as a member of Reid’s coaching staff in Philadelphia. He served as the Bears’ special teams coordinator from 2004 to 2012, coaching Devin Hester, who will be inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2024.

While Reid is maintaining the continuity of his coaching staff, the NFC champion San Francisco 49ers have parted ways with five assistant coaches following their overtime loss to the Chiefs in Super Bowl LVIII.

Notably, the 49ers parted with defensive coordinator Steve Wilks, despite his unit finishing third in the NFL in fewest points allowed during the regular season.
