Netflix is gearing up for the release of its highly anticipated original K-Drama, “A Killer Paradox” (also known as “Murder DIEary”), set to premiere on February 9. The black comedy-thriller, based on the Naver Webtoon of the same name by Kkomabi, explores the consequences of an accidental killing, leading to an intricate cat-and-mouse chase between an average college student and a relentless detective.

The lead roles in this thrilling series are portrayed by Choi Woo Shik as college student Yi Tang and Son Suk Ku (also known as Son Seok Koo) as the cunning detective Jang Nan Gam.

In a recent promotional video released by Netflix K-content, the stars took a unique approach to connect with their English-speaking audience. Unlike the customary brief greetings, Choi Woo Shik and Son Suk Ku showcased their impressive English skills, adding a touch of allure to their promotion.

The promotional video, shared across Netflix’s social media platforms, quickly gained traction, going viral on Instagram and X with 522K and 103K views, respectively, at the time of writing. Netizens were captivated not only by the actors’ fluency but also by the attractive accents they displayed during the video.

Many viewers, familiar with the actors from their roles in Korean films and dramas, expressed surprise at their English proficiency. Son Suk Ku, originally from Daejeon, South Korea, spent a significant portion of his education abroad, studying in both the U.S. and Canada. He pursued his passion for visual arts and film, majoring in the School of Art Institute of Chicago with aspirations of becoming a documentary director.

Similarly, Choi Woo Shik, born in Seoul, South Korea, moved to Vancouver, Canada, with his family at the age of ten, adopting the name Edward Choi (also known as Eddie). After spending the next decade in Canada, he ventured to South Korea in 2010, gaining permission from his parents to audition for acting while attending Simon Fraser University.

Although both actors have achieved fame in South Korea, their fluency in English is not commonly showcased. Choi Woo Shik has displayed his English skills in projects like “Jinny’s Kitchen” and Bong Joon Ho’s film “Okja.” Meanwhile, audiences can catch more of Son Suk Ku’s English in works such as “Big Bet” and briefly in “Suits.”
