The Cleveland Browns have bolstered their backfield depth with the addition of veteran running back D’Onta Foreman. ESPN reports that the Browns have reached an agreement with Foreman, although the specific details of his contract, including the length and financial terms, have not been disclosed.

Foreman joins a talented group of running backs in Cleveland’s backfield. While starter Nick Chubb continues his recovery from a knee injury suffered in Week 2 of the previous season, the Browns’ running back stable includes Jerome Ford, Pierre Strong Jr., and recently signed Nyheim Hines.

These running backs will likely compete for roster spots during training camp, with the expectation that they will contribute early in the season as Chubb completes his rehabilitation.

Foreman brings experience to the Browns, having played for multiple teams in recent years. Drafted by the Houston Texans in the third round, Foreman has since had stints with the Indianapolis Colts, Tennessee Titans, and most recently, the Carolina Panthers.

D’Onta Foreman’s most productive season came in 2022 with the Panthers, where he rushed for 914 yards and five touchdowns in 17 games, including nine starts.

During the previous season, Foreman saw action in nine games, starting eight of them, for the Chicago Bears, where he accumulated 425 rushing yards and four touchdowns. His addition provides the Browns with valuable depth and experience in their running back rotation.
