Indianapolis Colts quarterback Anthony Richardson made an impressive start to his rookie season, showcasing his skills with 279 passing yards, a touchdown, and an interception, along with three rushing scores.

However, a concussion sidelined him for a game and a half before he returned in Week 4, only to be halted by a season-ending shoulder injury after another game and a half. Since then, Richardson has been diligently rehabilitating his shoulder, and according to Colts coach Shane Steichen, his progress is promising.

Steichen mentioned on Tuesday that Richardson is in excellent condition, and there were positive discussions regarding his recovery. While Richardson will participate in practices, the team will monitor and manage his workload cautiously.

Despite his injuries, Richardson’s exceptional athleticism and dual-threat ability were evident during his brief time on the field as a rookie. Fortunately for the Colts, Richardson won’t need to catch up on the offensive system for his sophomore season, as he was brought in under Steichen’s leadership.

Steichen emphasized that Richardson is familiar with the team’s terminology, having already been exposed to it, and is actively engaged in meetings and quizzes, demonstrating a solid understanding. Despite his abbreviated rookie season, Richardson posted 577 passing yards, three touchdowns, and one interception, along with 136 rushing yards and four touchdowns on 25 carries.

With key receiver Michael Pittman returning and additional weapons like Alec Pierce, Josh Downs, and several tight ends at his disposal, Richardson has a strong supporting cast. The Colts are also anticipated to bolster their offensive line and receiving corps in the draft, potentially enhancing Richardson’s performance capabilities.
