Crunchyroll Announces English Dub for “The Witch and the Beast”

Crunchyroll announced on Wednesday the release of an English dub for the anime adaptation of Kōsuke Satake’s manga “The Witch and the Beast” on Thursday.

The revealed cast includes Xan Cramer as Ashaf, Rowan Gilvie as Guideau, Lydia Mackay as Ione, Kelly Greenshield as Marie, with Kent Williams as the Narrator. Jeremy Inman will serve as voice director, Samantha Herek as producer, James Cheek as script adapter, Gino Palencia as audio mixer, and Zachary Davis as audio engineer.

The anime, which premiered on TBS and BS11 on January 11, is being streamed by Crunchyroll as it airs in Japan, with the world premiere screening having taken place at Anime NYC on November 17. The storyline follows a girl with beast-like eyes, once cursed by a witch, who seeks to undo the curse.

As she encounters a man carrying a coffin in a town, their quest for revenge against the evil witch unfolds.

Kōsuke Satake initiated the manga in Kodansha’s Young Magazine the 3rd in November 2016, later moving to Monthly Young Magazine in 2021. The 10th compiled volume was published by Kodansha in August 2022.

Although the manga went on hiatus in January 2023, it has yet to resume. Kodansha USA Publishing is handling the English release, with the 10th volume made available in English in February 2023.
