With the success of films like Knives Out (2019), the murder mystery genre in television and film appears to be resurrecting. The plot of Mike Weiss and Heidi Cole McAdams’ Hulu television series Death and Other Details centers on a locked-room murder that occurs on a lavish cruise liner.
The show centers on Imogen Scott, a lady who becomes the only suspect in a murder case and teams up with renowned investigator Rufus Coteworth to identify the true murderer. In addition to Violett Beane, Linda Emond, Jayne Atkinson, Lauren Patten, David Marshall Grant, and others, Mandy Patinkin plays the show’s primary detective. The eighth episode of “Death and Other Details” had viewers on the edge of their seats as fresh killings caused turmoil and dread across the cruise liner.
While we do find out who killed Imogene Scott’s mother, there is still more mystery surrounding the deaths of Katherine Collier (Jayne Atkinson), Governor Alexandra Hochenberg (Tamberla Perry), and Llewellyn Mathers (Jere Burns).
Victor Sams, the enigmatic guy, seizes command of the ship in Episode 9. When his armed goons attack the ship, they declare that the guests are going to play a fatal game. The narrative provided by the official account states that “Viktor Sams takes control of the Varuna and forces the guests to bid against each other to survive.”
The stakes are raised when Jules (Hugo Diego Garcia) and Sunil Bhandari (Rahul Kohli), with their lives in jeopardy, discover a bomb aboard. Imogene is working against the clock to solve the puzzles surrounding Victor Sams and his evil scheme.
