In “Delicious In Dungeon Episode 8,” the story kicks off with Marcille waking up, worried about Laios but relieved to hear he’s doing better. She ponders over the dungeon’s design and monsters, setting the stage for a flashback to her school days.

Back then, Marcille was praised by her classmates for her magical skills, with some even saying she could become a court mage. It made her feel good, thinking about what she could achieve in the future.

Soon, a teacher announces a spirit-breeding experiment. Marcille and her classmates head outside with jars, where she explains how spirits are bred and how it’s connected to Summoning Magic. They call the structure used for breeding “dungeonium” because it looks like a mini-dungeon.

Everyone heads into a darkroom to set their jars, and Marcille’s classmates are amazed by her jar’s magic barrier. During this experiment, a girl struggling with her barrier catches Marcille’s attention. Marcille realizes the girl’s barrier has flaws, which could harm the spirits inside.

She learns the girl isn’t doing well academically either. Days later, when they check on the barriers, most students’ spirits have died, except Marcille’s. The girl Marcille helped, however, managed to multiply her spirits impressively.

When Marcille asks her how the girl reveals she visited a real dungeon known for its abundance of spirits. The girl, Falin, invites Marcille to explore the dungeon with her. They journey through hidden passages and finally reach the real dungeon.

There, Falin explains her method for multiplying spirits. Marcille starts to envision creating a safe dungeon herself. But their exploration is interrupted when a slime monster appears. Marcille is about to attack when Falin stops her, explaining the monster’s role in the dungeon ecosystem.

Back in the present, Marcille’s companions doubt the truth of her story, frustrating her. They discuss their next move in the dungeon, planning to reach the Red Dragon’s lair. Marcille insists on freshening up first, triggering another flashback.

This time, it’s about a disagreement within the group regarding their priorities, particularly concerning helping Marcille find Falin. As they prepare to leave, Marcille accidentally attracts an Undine, a water creature. She falls into the water, prompting her companions to strategize.

Laios intervenes to save her, but they realize they can’t defeat the Undine without fire. Marcille tries to handle the situation using her magic but gets injured in the process.

Laios comes up with a plan to cook a meal using Kelpie meat they have, hoping it might attract someone passing by. They cook up a dish, and although Marcille gains a bit of energy from it, she’s still weak.

While they wait, another group approaches, curious about the smell of their cooking.
