Disney has acquired the rights to Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour concert film, set to debut on the streaming platform for subscribers on March 15, 2024. Speculation suggests Disney paid a hefty sum of $75 million for the deal. Despite rumors of other contenders like Netflix, the official disclosure of the deal’s value remains undisclosed.

Swift arranged for her Eras Tour to be recorded as a concert movie for fans, premiering on her birthday, December 13, 2023. Initially slated for a four-week theatrical release with AMC, demand extended it to nearly 13 weeks. The Disney+ version includes additional songs not featured in the theatrical release.

Rumors suggest that despite Netflix’s overall popularity and larger viewer base, Disney’s acquisition of Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour movie deal has dealt a significant blow to the streaming giant.

The upcoming Disney+ movie will feature previously unused acoustic songs, including “Maroon,” “I Can See You,” “Death by a Thousand Cuts,” and “You Are in Love.” Taylor Swift recorded six acoustic tracks during filming, with “Our Song” and “You Are On Your Own, Kid” already included in the original concert movie release.
