On Thursday, March 21, 2024, Eiichiro Oda, the creator of the One Piece manga series, announced that the manga would be taking a hiatus for three weeks. He provided insights into the reason behind this break and also offered recommendations for fans to engage with during the hiatus period.

The announcement, shared via the official X (formerly Twitter) account of the One Piece manga, featured a handwritten message from Eiichiro Oda.

It informed fans about the upcoming hiatus, which would commence after the release of the chapter in Weekly Shonen Jump issue #17. The manga would then be on hiatus for three weeks, returning in issue #21 on Monday, April 22, 2024.

Addressing concerns about his health, Oda reassured fans that he was in good health. The break was primarily for self-maintenance and possibly to contemplate the overarching narrative of One Piece, including the mystery of the titular treasure, the One Piece itself.

Oda recommended fans struggling to grasp the connections between characters in the Egghead Arc to explore their past relationships. He suggested reading about these connections in free volumes available for a limited time on Jump+ and Zebrack platforms.

Furthermore, Oda encouraged fans to explore other One Piece content during the hiatus. He specifically mentioned the One Piece live-action series on Netflix and the anime adaptation of his one-shot Monsters.

Additionally, Oda introduced fans to “ANYTIME ONE PIECE,” a special broadcast commemorating the anime series’ 25th anniversary. Initially available on YouTube, the broadcast was soon to be accessible on TikTok starting March 23, 2024.

Oda reiterated the manga’s hiatus and assured fans of its return to Weekly Shonen Jump after the three-week break. He expressed gratitude to fans for their support and encouraged them to explore various One Piece-related content during the hiatus period.
