Embracing Love, Loss, and Growth in K-Dramas With The Nostalgic Feeling of Summer

Summer's warmth brings nostalgic K-dramas alive, from healing journeys to rekindled romances and heartwarming tales.

As summer approaches, it’s the perfect time to relax and get into some nostalgic K-dramas. These shows capture the essence of the season, exploring themes of love, loss, and personal growth. From healing journeys in “Summer Strike,” to high school romances rekindled in “Our Beloved Summer” and heartwarming tales like “Once in a Summer,” and “Summer Scent”  these four titles celebrate the many shades of summer.

Summer Strike

Lee Yeo Reum (Seolhyun) is burnt out and dealing with her mother’s death and a controlling boyfriend. She leaves Seoul for a small seaside town, Angok, to rethink her life. Ahn Dae Bum (Im Siwan), once a math genius, now lives quietly as a librarian in Angok. They connect and help each other heal from their pasts.

“Summer Strike” reminds us to celebrate small victories and not be overwhelmed by life’s challenges. The slow-burn romance between Seolhyun and Im Siwan feels natural, making this drama a hidden gem.

Our Beloved Summer

Choi Woong (Choi Woo Shik) and Guk Yeon Soo (Kim Da Mi) made a documentary in high school that became popular a decade later. They got close during filming and dated for five years before breaking up.

This show portrays the ups and downs of love, emphasizing the importance of communication and mutual care. The chemistry between Choi Woo Shik and Kim Da Mi makes the characters relatable. BTS’s V singing “Christmas Tree” adds to the drama’s charm.

Once in a Summer
