Fans debate management differences between Jennie's current and former labels.

South Korean news outlet News1 reported on April 1st that BLACKPINK’s Jennie would be releasing a solo album in June, only to be swiftly denied by a representative from ODD ATELIER, Jennie’s label, just seven hours later. This conflicting information left fans confused and uncertain about Jennie’s upcoming music plans.

ODD ATELIER clarified that while Jennie is indeed working on new songs, no specific release date or format (album or EP) has been confirmed yet. This lack of clarity regarding Jennie’s comeback has led to disappointment and frustration among her fans, who have eagerly awaited her solo activities since she departed from YG Entertainment.

Expectations versus Reality

During her time with YG, Jennie’s solo activities were relatively limited, mainly consisting of brand endorsements and fashion contracts. Therefore, fans had high hopes that establishing her own company, ODD ATELIER, would provide Jennie with more opportunities to showcase her talents and expand her artistic horizons independently.

Allegations of Mismanagement and Fan Criticism

Amidst the uncertainty surrounding Jennie’s comeback, fans have voiced strong criticism against ODD ATELIER, comparing the label unfavourably to YG Entertainment. Fans expressed disappointment over Jennie’s recent appearances on the variety show “Apartment 404,” citing the program’s lacklustre format and declining viewer ratings despite Jennie’s participation.

Collaboration Issues and Slow Responses

Further fueling dissatisfaction, a reported collaboration between Jennie and Zico faced scepticism due to delayed and unclear responses from ODD ATELIER. Fans were irked by the label’s slow communication and perceived mismanagement of Jennie’s promotional activities.

Assessing ODD ATELIER’s Performance

Critics argue that ODD ATELIER’s handling of Jennie’s solo career has fallen short of expectations, with allegations of incompetence, frequent mistakes, and disregard for fan perspectives. The label’s denial of Jennie’s solo album release further exacerbated tensions and disappointment among fans eagerly anticipating her return to the music scene.

Jennie’s Progress and Future Prospects

Despite the challenges and criticisms faced by ODD ATELIER, Jennie’s solo endeavours post-YG departure have shown promising growth. She has been involved in multiple global campaigns, participated in variety shows and talk shows, and collaborated with other artists. South Korean media has recognized Jennie’s busy schedule and affirmed her successful transition into a solo career.

Cultivating Patience and Support

As Jennie continues to concentrate on completing her solo album, fans are encouraged to remain patient and await official announcements from the artist herself. Rather than pointing fingers at their idol’s label, supporters should focus on supporting Jennie’s journey and celebrating her achievements in due time.
