Geto’s Lack of Domain Is Being Criticized By Jujutsu Kaisen Fans

The recently released Jujutsu Kaisen anime adaptation by MAPPA has been a huge hit among fans. Two story arcs stood out in particular. The Shibuya Incident showcased intense supernatural battles on a grand scale. But the Gojo’s past arc provided invaluable backstory and character depth.

We got to see the legendary Gojo Satoru defeated by Toji Zenin, a feat thought nearly impossible. This highlighted Toji’s immense strength and combat ability despite lacking cursed energy.

The arc also spotlighted Gojo’s formative friendship with fellow student Geto Suguru. Their bond was unique given Gojo’s aloofness. Although not Gojo’s equal in power, Geto was still an elite Special Grade sorcerer.

Surprisingly, Geto never manifested a Domain Expansion. But this makes sense considering his ideologies. Geto saw non-sorcerers as inferior and wanted to create a world just for the jujutsu community.

So he likely focused his training on techniques to eliminate normal humans rather than on Domains for fighting other sorcerers.

Geto’s fall to darkness and eventual battle with Gojo was tragic yet gripping. Overall, Gojo’s Past provided a compelling look into the making of an icon and the corruption of an idealist.

The Evolution of Geto Suguru and the Origins of Domain Expansion

Fans who have watched through the Jujutsu Kaisen anime are aware that the only depiction of Geto Suguru battling as an adult occurred in Jujutsu Kaisen 0, the prequel movie focusing on Yuta Okkotsu’s origins.

This film adaptation covered the 4-chapter one-shot manga that introduced Yuta while demonstrating Geto’s formidable strength at his peak.

Intriguingly, that original Geto-centered manga was initially published as a one-shot. Gege Akutami created the self-contained story without expectations of continuation.

However, after an enthusiastic reception, Shueisha saw the potential for expansion and motivated Akutami to develop the one-shot into a full serial.

Thus, Geto’s climactic clash in Jujutsu Kaisen 0 originated from what was meant to be an isolated side tale before blossoming into a richer, integrated prequel.

Understanding this background lends further appreciation for the material’s growth into an acclaimed piece of the wider series.

Intriguingly, despite Yuta Okkotsu also holding the rare distinction of Special Grade sorcerer in the Jujutsu Kaisen 0 prequel, he never displays a Domain Expansion either.

Even the ultimate sorcerer Gojo Satoru refrains from using one.

This strongly implies the concept of Domain Expansion had not fully developed when Akutami created the initial one-shot manga.

It only crystallized as a power system concept during the planning stages for the full serial.

Consequently, since Geto originated from that preliminary one-shot, he logically did not possess a Domain Expansion within the main continuity.

Some fans roasted Geto as a “fraud” Special Grade lacking this expected ability.

Additional critique centered on other areas where Geto seemed inferior next to the exaggerated strengths of sorcerers introduced later.

However, considering Geto’s initial role as the threat in a one-shot, rather than part of an interconnected power system, gives essential context. Appreciating these real-world creative factors helps explain perceived battling deficiencies.

More From Jujutsu Kaisen Chapter 246

Chapter 249 firmly establishes Kenjaku’s decisive defeat at Yuta’s hands, closing the book on his machinations. Despite earlier decapitation, Kenjaku briefly prolonged his curse through raw tenacity.

However, Yuta’s final blow – physically destroying Kenjaku’s brain – neutralized the threat permanently. There will be no subsequent revival or comeback.

Harkening back to Kenjaku’s ominous words when first beheaded, his “will” has indeed outlived his body’s destruction.

This will have transferred to Sukuna as successor, who now inherits the duty of completing Kenjaku’s grand plan for merging Tengen with humanity.

While Kenjaku himself is gone for good after this conclusive exorcism, his ambitious legacy persists through Sukuna. This passing of the torch ensures Kenjaku’s radical vision enduring ripple effects upon the jujutsu world at large.

We await the climactic clashes still to come as this will manifest through the dangerously unleashed King of Curses.

When Sukuna tries countering with Hollow Wicker Basket, Yuta adapts using the copied “Thin Ice Breaker” technique – declaring his intention to finally defeat The King of Curses within his domain’s confines. Sukuna seems to recognize Yuta from Megumi’s memories.

It’s revealed Yuta plans to overwhelm Sukuna by continuously barraging him with his domain’s “Sure Hit” attack, implied to be Angel’s Cursed Technique.

While Sukuna devotes half his hands and mouth to defending with Hollow Wicker Basket, Yuta explains he can assault endlessly with replicated cursed techniques – something only possible within his domain.
