Graham Norton revealed his departure from his Virgin Radio weekend show, expressing a desire to reclaim his weekends after 13 years of dedication.

Norton, aged 60, shared his decision during Saturday’s broadcast, citing a shift in priorities due to changes in his life. While Virgin Radio has yet to name a permanent successor, Angela Scanlon will fill in for the upcoming weeks.

Norton told listeners during his program that:

“The show isn’t quite the normal show today because I have a bit of an announcement to make. I’m kind of off. I’m leaving weekends here at Virgin Radio.”

Virgin Radio affirmed Norton’s ongoing significance within their network, emphasizing Angela Scanlon’s distinctive style and the enthusiasm she brings.

Content Director Mike Cass acknowledged the challenge of filling Norton’s shoes, promising an announcement soon.

Norton, who transitioned to Virgin Radio in 2021 from BBC Radio 2, hosts weekend morning shows on both Saturdays and Sundays.

Although his last weekend broadcast will be on Sunday, Norton assured listeners of occasional appearances on the station. Additionally, he continues to host “The Graham Norton Show” on BBC One.
