Pacific Rim has made a comeback on Netflix, securing the 10th spot on the U.S. Top 10 chart for the week of January 29 to February 4.

Topping the list was Jeffrey Dean Morgan’s film “The Postcard Killings,” followed by Netflix’s “The Greatest Night in Pop” and the Channing Tatum romance “The Vow.”

The animated adaptation “The Super Mario Bros. Movie” maintained its position at No. 4 after spending ten weeks in the Top 10.

David Ayer’s war movie “Fury” claimed the 5th spot, while the rest of the chart included “The Hill,” “Deep Fear,” “Orion and the Dark,” “Tom and Jerry,” and “Pacific Rim.”

Guillermo del Toro directed Pacific Rim, a sci-fi film with a budget of approximately $200 million, making it the most expensive movie he has directed.

It grossed $411 million at the box office and received positive reviews, leading to the development of the 2018 sequel, Pacific Rim Uprising, directed by Steven S. DeKnight.

While the sequel grossed less than its predecessor and received mixed reviews, the franchise expanded with an animated series titled “Pacific Rim: The Black,” spanning two seasons on Netflix.

Despite lingering rumors of Pacific Rim 3, no substantial progress has been made since the release of Uprising.

Guillermo del Toro, who helmed the original, expressed in 2023 that he didn’t watch the sequel, comparing it to watching home movies from an ex-wife, stating, “It is terrible if they’re good and worse if they’re bad, or the opposite. You don’t wanna know.”

While a third film remains uncertain, the original Pacific Rim is available for streaming on Netflix, rekindling interest in the franchise.
