HAIKYUU!! The Dumpster Battle Dominates Japanese Box Office for Fourth Consecutive Weekend

In its fourth weekend, the anime film “HAIKYU!! The Dumpster Battle,” the initial installment of the Haikyu!! FINAL Part 1 continues to dominate the Japanese box office.

The movie raked in an impressive 843 million yen (5.74 million USD) from 574,000 admissions, marking a remarkable 160.5 percent of the film’s earnings in the previous third weekend, which amounted to 525 million yen (3.58 million USD).

This surge propelled the film back to the top spot in the weekend rankings. The 85-minute feature has now amassed a cumulative domestic revenue of 6.2 billion yen (42.25 million USD) with 4.38 million admissions.

Achieving this milestone, it joins the ranks of successful anime films like SPY x FAMILY CODE: White, which reached the six billion yen mark in 59 days.

The former chart-topper, “Doraemon: Nobita’s Earth Symphony,” secured the second position in its second weekend, earning 502 million yen (3.42 million USD) from 409,000 admissions.

The film’s total box office revenue now stands at 1.2 billion yen (8.18 million USD) with 1.04 million admissions.

Making its debut in third place is “My Home Hero,” the live-action adaptation of Masaki Asashi’s crime suspense manga. Premiering in 348 theaters across Japan on March 8, the sequel film to the 2023 TV drama garnered 110 million yen (750,000 USD) from 81,000 admissions.

Impressively, it secured the fourth position in Filmarks’ first-day satisfaction ranking with an average rating of 3.49/5.0 based on 414 reviews.

In its seventh weekend, “Mobile Suit Gundam SEED FREEDOM,” the feature film sequel from the Mobile Suit Gundam Seed franchise, climbed to fourth place.

Since its release on January 26, the film has earned 3,882,820,330 yen (26.47 million USD) from 2,304,510 admissions in 45 days.

Meanwhile, the live-action adaptation of Satoru Noda’s adventure manga, “Golden Kamuy,” took the tenth spot in its eighth weekend, slipping two places from the previous week.

The resounding success of “HAIKYU!! The Dumpster Battle” affirms its stronghold in the hearts of anime enthusiasts, showcasing the enduring popularity of the Haikyu!! series on the big screen.
