On Tuesday, the official website for the Uta Emaki “Hikaru no Go” Jyo no Itte (Song Picture Scroll “Hikaru no Go”: The First Move) stage play adaptation of Takeshi Obata and Yumi Hotta’s Hikaru no Go manga revealed additional cast members for the upcoming show.
Among the newly announced cast are Takumi Mano playing Tetsuo Kaga, Ryusei Kitade as Yuki Mitani, Yūki Iwasa portraying Kimihiro Tsutsui, and Arihiro Matsunaga as Kaoru Kishimoto.
Joining them are Mashū Ishiwatari, taking on the role of Yoshitaka Waya, Takumi Masunaga as Yun, and Kento Kitamura as Seiji Ogata.
Previously announced cast members include Yōjirō Itokawa as Hikaru Shindō, Kōji Kominami as Fujiwara-no-Sai, Tomoru Akazawa as Akira Tōya, Akio Hirose as Kōyō Tōya, and Teru Ikuta as Akari Fujisaki.
Nobuhiro Mōri will take on multiple roles for the stage show, directing, scripting, and writing lyrics for the music, while Shinnosuke Motoyama will handle choreography and staging. Shunsuke Wada is set to compose the music, with Mitsuhiro Akiyama overseeing art direction.
The show is scheduled to run at the Sunshine Theater from July 5 to July 14.

Viz Media publishes the manga in North America, depicting Hikaru Shindo’s discovery of an ancient Go board containing the spirit of Fujiwara-no-Sai, a Go master. Together, they form an unbeatable team in the game of Go, facing various challenges along the way.
Serialized in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump magazine from December 1998 to July 2003, Hikaru no Go won awards such as the Shogakukan Manga Awards and the Tezuka Osamu Cultural Prize. Viz Media released all 23 compiled volumes in North America.
The series was adapted into a television anime that aired in Japan from 2001 to 2003, with a New Year Special in 2004. Viz Media also released part of the series on DVD in North America.
Additionally, the manga inspired a Chinese live-action series that premiered in 2020 and is available for streaming on iQIYI.
