Hunter Biden, son of President Joe Biden, has declined an invitation to appear before the House Oversight and Accountability Committee for a hearing titled “Influence Peddling: Examining Joe Biden’s Abuse of Public Office.”

His attorney, Abbe Lowell, accused the committee of orchestrating a media event rather than a legitimate proceeding.

Lowell referenced previous statements by Rep. James Comer, the committee’s chairman, where he indicated that witnesses could fulfill requests through depositions, suggesting inconsistency in the committee’s approach.

The decision follows an invitation from Comer to Hunter Biden and his former business associates to testify. Lowell stated that Hunter Biden will not participate in what he referred to as a “carnival sideshow.”

He cited a scheduling conflict as the reason for Hunter Biden’s inability to attend, though he emphasized that it was just one of the concerns raised.
