ILLIT, HYBE’s latest addition to its roster, officially entered the K-pop scene with the release of their debut mini-album “Super Real Me” and the accompanying title track “Magnetic” at 6 PM KST on March 25th.

The group’s formation through the survival show R U Next and subsequent lineup change just before debut, which saw Youngseo’s withdrawal, garnered attention as HYBE’s third girl group. The finalized lineup comprises Yunah, Minju, Moka, Wonhee, and Iroha, promising a dynamic synergy among its members.

“Magnetic” marks ILLIT’s introduction to the music industry, blending elements of the Hybrid Dance genre with a distinct fusion of Pluggnb and House influences. The track boasts a catchy chorus, unique melody, and irresistible rhythm, conveying a message of teenage confidence as the members chase after their crushes akin to magnets.

With HYBE’s chairman, Bang Si Hyuk, contributing to the music production, “Magnetic” has received accolades for its melodious composition, hinting at the group’s potential for future success.

Serian Heu, renowned as the former creative director of Vogue Korea, spearheads ILLIT’s visual direction, ensuring meticulous preparation in every aspect of their debut. From mesmerising photo concepts to aesthetically pleasing teaser videos, ILLIT’s debut showcases HYBE’s commitment to delivering a visually endearing experience.

The music video for “Magnetic” further solidifies ILLIT’s enchanting presence, portraying them as a breath of fresh air with their dreamy aesthetics and youthful charm.

However, as ILLIT’s concept and music draw parallels to HYBE’s successful group NewJeans, some netizens speculate that the agency is replicating the same formula. Despite this, ILLIT has garnered viral attention on social media, particularly with the highlight medley of “Magnetic,” propelling anticipation for their future endeavours.

In the competitive landscape of K-pop, ILLIT faces a looming rivalry with YG Entertainment’s rookie girl group BABYMONSTER, as both groups vie for prominence in the industry.
