In the previous chapter of I Thought It’s a Common Possession, Edith and the Rudwick Family reaches the Imperial Palace for the National Day’s banquet. Edith had assumed that the best dressed person in the banquet would either be Lize or Killian, but surprisingly it was no one other than the Duchess herself.
The Duchess wore the dress Edith had gifted it to her instead of the dresses Lize picked out for her. It seems like the Duchess was actually saving up Edith’s recommendations to wear them on important events. It was really nice to see the Duchess tell everyone proudly that Edith had gifted her the dress.
She was also angry because Cliff was sticking only to Lize so her plans to become the Rudwick family’s bride were completely ruined. She was sure that Edith and Killian were on bad terms but she was proven wrong and Leila was going mad with jealously since she thinks Edith stole her man.
After the dance ended, Edith asked Killian if they should rest for a while before she freezes up in fear. Her father comes up to them and greets the couple, asking to talk to Edith privately. Edith was completely petrified because of her body’s automatic reaction when she met the Count and wished that Killian would take her away.
Killian on the other hand, just told the Count to talk to her in his presence which just offended him. Edith didn’t want to look suspicious so she tells the Count that she is doing well and he leaves in anger. Surprisingly, Killian didn’t ask any questions about Edith’s fearful reaction and changed the topic right away.
