Singer IU took centre stage as the guest of the week on the popular YouTube talk show, ‘Just an Excuse,’ bringing a laid-back, at-home vibe to the episode as she engaged in conversation with MC Yoo Jae Suk and co-host Yang Se Chan.

When questioned about her preferred way to spend her days off, IU disclosed a rather unconventional habit that raised eyebrows among the hosts. She began by stating, “On my days off, I just sit at my dining table.” Perplexed, Yang Se Chan sought clarification, asking, “But you’re not sitting there the whole day, right?”

To the surprise of the hosts, IU responded, “I sit there all day, for 6~7 hours.” Elaborating on her peculiar routine, she explained, “I sit there and look at my phone, sometimes I just stare off into space, I eat and then leave the dirty dishes there, and then I also lean back and sit like I’m half lying down.”

She added, “I don’t even move from the dining table to the sofa. I start out eating breakfast there, and then pretty soon, it’s time for dinner so I order dinner in the same spot.”

IU confessed that she has mastered the art of remaining in one spot for extended periods. She shared, “I didn’t realize that other people don’t do that so often. But for almost a year now, I’ve been filming a new drama.

On that set, people kept telling me I was strange. Usually, in between cuts, people will come back and forth from the set to their waiting rooms, the restroom, etc.

But I stay in the same place while all of the preparations are going on for the next scene until everyone else comes back to the spot for the next cut. I had no idea that it was uncommon behaviour. But for me, I prefer it.”

In response to IU’s revelation, MC Yoo Jae Suk shared his preconceived notion, stating, “I always imagined that you sat at home with your guitar, just strumming random tunes even on your days off.”

Dismissing this notion, IU shook her head and clarified, “I’m not really like that unless I have to write new songs for an album.”

The episode of ‘Just an Excuse’ featuring IU can be watched in its entirety for those interested in the singer’s candid revelations and unique lifestyle choices.
