The Jacksonville Jaguars have secured one of their defensive pillars for the foreseeable future by signing linebacker Foye Oluokun to a three-year contract extension. The extension, worth $30 million in new money, essentially extends Oluokun’s contract to a four-year deal valued at $45 million, including $22.5 million in guarantees.

With this new deal, Oluokun remains among the top 10 highest-paid players at his position, joining elite linebackers such as Roquan Smith, Fred Warner, Tremaine Edmunds, Matt Milano, and Patrick Queen in terms of average annual value.

Since joining the Jaguars on a three-year, $45 million contract in 2022, Oluokun has been a defensive force, leading the team in tackles for two consecutive seasons. Impressively, he topped the entire NFL in tackles in both 2021 and 2022, demonstrating his exceptional productivity on the field.

Oluokun led the league in solo tackles in 2022 and 2023, showcasing his versatility and impact as a linebacker. Turning 29 later this year, Oluokun’s durability has been a significant asset throughout his NFL career, having missed only one game and playing in 66 consecutive contests, including postseason appearances.

As the Jaguars transition to a new defensive scheme under recently hired coordinator Ryan Nielsen, Oluokun remains a cornerstone of their front seven, which boasts talent like Arik Armstead, Josh Allen, Travon Walker, Devin Lloyd, and Roy Robertson-Harris.

With the departure of Calvin Ridley in free agency, Jacksonville may rely more heavily on their defense to drive success in the upcoming seasons. Oluokun’s extension solidifies his role as a key leader in the Jaguars’ defensive efforts moving forward.
