Less than a minute into Sunday night’s matchup against the Cleveland Cavaliers, Jalen Brunson, the prominent guard for the New York Knicks, endured an injury.

While executing a play off a screen for his first shot, Brunson’s landing took an awkward turn, resulting in him collapsing in agony on the court. With assistance, he was escorted to the locker room for further evaluation.

Following the game, Knicks’ head coach Tom Thibodeau revealed that Brunson had sustained a left knee contusion, with initial X-ray scans showing no significant damage.

Initially categorized as knee soreness, Brunson was considered questionable to rejoin the game in the second quarter but was ultimately ruled out during the third.

Thibodeau refrained from offering a specific timetable for Brunson’s return, leaving the team uncertain about his availability in the upcoming games. However, despite Brunson’s absence, the Knicks managed to clinch a 107-98 victory against the Cavaliers.

Brunson, who earned his first All-Star Game selection this season, had been experiencing a remarkable campaign, boasting career-high averages of 27.7 points and 6.7 assists.

Despite Brunson’s injury, the Knicks maintain the fourth seed in the Eastern Conference, with an impressive 36-25 record over 61 games.
