After a three-year hiatus following his military service, Jang Ki-Yong makes a highly anticipated return to acting with JTBC’s upcoming drama “The Atypical Family.”

During a press conference on April 2nd, Jang Ki-Yong, alongside co-stars Chun Woo-hee, Soo-hyun, Park So-yi, and director Cho Hyun-tak, introduced the fantasy romance series based on a popular webtoon. Jang Ki-Yong portrays Bok Gwi-joo, a man endowed with extraordinary abilities but facing the challenges of a chronic illness. His life takes a transformative turn upon encountering Do Da-hae, played by Chun Woo-hee.

Reflecting on his comeback, Jang Ki-Yong shared insights into his hiatus, expressing, “Looking back on my 20s, I was incredibly busy. Taking a necessary break for a year and a half brought a sense of stability upon returning to work post-military.” He described a newfound peace of mind during the drama’s preparation, a departure from the constant rush earlier in his career.

Jang Ki-yong’s choice of “The Atypical Family” as his comeback project underscores his excitement for the script’s unique qualities, aiming to deliver an unexpected and compelling performance in his pivotal role.
