The latest episode of tvN’s Mon-Tue drama “Wedding Impossible,” which aired on March 26th, saw a significant drop in ratings, recording a nationwide rating of 2.2%. The decision to air the episode 30 minutes earlier to avoid overlap with a major sporting event, unfortunately, did not yield the desired improvement in viewership.

Initially garnering a respectable 4.0% rating in its premiere episode, “Wedding Impossible” maintained viewership in the 4% range. However, the drama experienced a gradual decline, reaching 3.7% by episode 5 and plummeting to the 2% range by its tenth episode. As the series approaches its conclusion with only one more episode left, the outlook for a ratings rebound appears dim.

For Jeon Jong-seo, known for her acclaimed performances in films like “Burning,” “The Call,” and “Ballerina,” her first foray into a leading role in a television drama has been met with mixed reactions. Viewers have expressed scepticism regarding her portrayal of Na Ah-Jeong, the female lead in a romantic comedy setting, suggesting that her established image as an actress with nuanced and intense roles may not align well with the genre’s requirements.

Particular criticism has been directed towards a pivotal scene in which the lead couple shares a kiss, with viewers citing discomfort with Jeon Jong-seo’s delivery and enunciation, finding it challenging to empathize with her character. Many have voiced concerns that her performance style may not be suited for romantic comedies.

With only two episodes remaining, prospects for a ratings recovery appear bleak, raising the possibility of the drama concluding quietly and with regret. Despite efforts to adjust broadcast schedules and engage viewers, “Wedding Impossible” faces an uphill battle to salvage its performance in the remaining episodes.
