Legendary announcer Jerry Lawler is no longer listed on the official WWE roster.

This move has sent shockwaves through the wrestling world, as Lawler’s association with WWE stretches back decades and makes him a true icon of the company. Many fans can’t imagine him working anywhere else.

End of an Era?

Reports suggest that Lawler’s broadcasting contract with WWE expired at the beginning of 2024, and the company opted not to renew it. 

This seemingly marks the end of a long and successful partnership that began in December 1992 with Lawler’s surprise debut on WWF Prime Time Wrestling. While Lawler is reportedly still under a Legends deal with WWE, his removal from the roster page is a significant development and suggests a reduced on-screen role, if any.

Lawler’s last televised appearance for WWE was in November 2023. Jim Ross, another legendary commentator, recently expressed his belief that he and Lawler would reunite somewhere down the road.
