One of the prominent free agents has found a new home, reporting that the New York Jets have inked a one-year deal with former Dallas Cowboys All-Pro left tackle Tyron Smith. This move aligns with New York’s objective to bolster its offensive line, which struggled in 2023, allowing 64 sacks, tied for fourth-most in the league.

Smith shared his rationale behind joining the Jets in a conversation with Anderson, expressing his desire to have remained in Dallas but acknowledging the business aspect of the NFL.

“I would’ve loved to have stayed home in Dallas, but as we all know, it’s a business the way it works,” Smith said. “I still feel like the Jets have an opportunity to win it, and anything I can do for the team to help them out, I’m going to do my best to do it.”

The 33-year-old has been a stalwart for the Cowboys since being drafted by Dallas with the No. 9 overall pick in the 2011 NFL Draft out of USC. Earlier this month, reports indicated that Smith was unlikely to return to the Cowboys, with indications of a significant gap in financial terms between the player and the team, as per The Dallas Morning News.
