Joni Mitchell’s extensive music collection has reappeared on Spotify, signaling the resolution of her two-year dispute with the streaming giant. Although all of Mitchell’s timeless albums are now available on Spotify, some are tucked away in an unexpected location.

Pre-1980 releases, such as the iconic “Blue” from 1971 and “For the Roses” from 1972, can be found under the “compilations” tab within a playlist titled “The Studio Albums 1968-1979.”

Despite the return of her music, the 80-year-old singer has yet to publicly comment on what prompted her change of heart. Mitchell initially pulled her songs from Spotify in January 2022 in protest of the platform’s continued hosting of “The Joe Rogan Experience” podcast.

She criticised Joe Rogan for disseminating misinformation about the COVID-19 pandemic and vaccines on his podcast, declaring, “I’ve decided to remove all my music from Spotify.” Mitchell stood in solidarity with Neil Young and the global scientific and medical communities on this matter.

Following Young’s departure from Spotify that same month due to similar concerns about Rogan’s podcast, Spotify co-founder and CEO Daniel Ek addressed the issue in an open letter. Ek emphasized the platform’s commitment to supporting creator expression while ensuring user safety.

Additionally, Daniel Ek announced the implementation of content advisories for podcasts discussing the COVID-19 pandemic, aiming to strike a balance between freedom of expression and responsible content dissemination.
