Encountering aspiring recruit Reno Ichikawa reignites Kafka’s ambitions. But fate intervenes when Kafka gains powers after an unexpected encounter with a small kaiju during a cleanup operation.

Transformed into a hybrid known as Kaiju No. 8, Kafka hides his new powers as he tries to rejoin the Defense Force. Despite his lifelong dream, his efforts are hindered by being labeled a kaiju.
