Kaiju No. 8 Episode 2: Release Date, Recap & Spoilers

Kafka has transformed into a big Kaiju creature, and it looks like his childhood friend Mina, who leads the Third Unit, is about to show up.

Everyone’s curious about what will happen next to Kafka and if he’ll be okay. Episode 1 of Kaiju No. 8 is called The Man Who Became A Kaiju.

It introduces Kafka Hibino, who used to dream of joining the anti-Kaiju Defense Force but ended up working in Kaiju clean-up instead.

While he deals with Kaiju bodies, Kafka remembers his childhood friend Mina Ashiro, who’s now a leader in the Defense Force’s Third Division.

When a Kaiju shows up in Yokohama, Kafka’s company has to clean up the mess it leaves behind. Kafka gets assigned to work on the insides of the dead Kaiju, which he really doesn’t like.

Even though he doesn’t want to do it, Kafka feels like he doesn’t have a choice and just accepts his fate.

That night, Kafka can’t shake off the smell of the Kaiju’s intestines, and he watches a news report talking about how great Mina is as a Defense Force captain.

It reminds him of a promise he made to her when they were kids. The next day at work, Kafka meets Leno Ichikawa, who’s new and really wants to join the Defense Force.

Leno is full of determination, which is different from Kafka’s more resigned attitude, but Kafka still encourages him.

While they’re working, Kafka and Leno run into a small Kaiju, also known as a Yoju, and it starts attacking them. Kafka pushes Leno out of harm’s way, but he gets caught up with the monster.

Just when things look bad and Kafka’s about to get eaten, Leno comes back and helps him fight off the Yoju. Then, Mina and her team show up to take out the threat, saving Kafka and Leno.

After the fight, Kafka and Leno end up in the hospital, getting better. Leno encourages Kafka to go after his dream of joining the Defense Force, and Kafka decides he’ll give it a shot.

But their talk doesn’t last long because a little flying Kaiju shows up. It says it “found him” before jumping into Kafka’s mouth and turning him into a Kaiju too.

As Kafka tries to understand what’s happened to him, he and Leno notice an old man has seen them. Scared, they decide to run away.

Episode 1 of Kaiju No. 8 ends with a scene showing Mina taking a bath and thinking about how Kafka broke his promise to fight Kaiju with her. Then she gets a call asking her to deal with a Kaiju, not knowing it’s Kafka but she says yes.

Expectation

In Episode 2 of Kaiju No. 8, we’ll probably see Kafka and Ichikawa dealing with what happened after Kafka turned into a Kaiju.

They’ll try to escape from the hospital, and we’ll see Kafka starting to understand his new powers. It might also show us how strong he is in a fight.

In Episode 2 of Kaiju No. 8, we’ll probably see Kafka struggling with his feelings about being part of the Defense Force now that he’s a Kaiju.

It’ll make us wonder what he’ll choose to do in the future. Plus, we’ll be curious to find out if Kafka can turn back into a human or if he’s stuck as a Kaiju forever.
