KARA member and actress Kang Jiyoung has officially ended her contract with EL Media Company, transitioning into a free agent. Since initiating her acting journey in Japan back in 2014, Kang Jiyoung has gradually extended her presence in the Korean entertainment scene. Her recent involvement includes a notable cameo in the SBS drama ‘Let Me Be Your Knight’.

In future, Kang Jiyoung will be reconnecting with her audience through the Wavve original reality show ‘Wish I Have, KARA’.

The program documents the journey of all five KARA members to Kota Kinabalu, Malaysia, commemorating the group’s 15th anniversary. It promises candid interactions among the members and their fans, offering a heartfelt exchange of sentiments.

In December 2015, Sony Music revealed plans for Jiyoung to debut as a singer under the moniker JY. Her inaugural solo single, “The Last Farewell”, featured on the OST for the Japan NTV drama Higanbana.

On March 18, 2016, she launched her debut solo EP titled “Radio” as JY, comprising three tracks, two of which received accompanying music videos.

Radio, crafted by London-based songwriter and producer MNEK, garnered attention, with its music video directed by Darren Craig. The EP reached #2 on the iTunes Pop Top Song Chart and was promoted not only in South Korea and Japan but also in the US and other Asian regions.
