Kelly Clarkson has initiated legal action against her ex-husband, Brandon Blackstock, and his father Narvel Balckstock’s management company, Starstruck Entertainment, alleging violations of California labor laws.

The complaint, filed in Los Angeles, accuses the management company of operating as an unlicensed talent agency and booking business deals on Clarkson’s behalf dating back to 2007.

Clarkson seeks to declare all agreements with Starstruck void and to reclaim all monies paid to them, including commissions, fees, and profits.

This lawsuit comes after Clarkson won a $2.6 million ruling against Blackstock in November 2023 for his unlawful involvement in deals related to “The Voice,” Norwegian Cruise Lines, Wayfair, and the Billboard Music Awards.

California labor laws dictate that only licensed talent agents should negotiate employment deals for their clients. Blackstock is appealing the previous ruling but may face a tougher case if Clarkson succeeds in her new lawsuit, which covers an additional 10 years.

In response to Clarkson’s latest filing, Blackstock’s lawyer, Bryan Freedman, argued against seeking reimbursement from an ex-husband who had managed her career and supported their family during their marriage.

Clarkson and Blackstock have been embroiled in legal disputes since their split in 2020 after seven years of marriage. The former couple shares two children, daughter River, 9, and son Remington, 7.
